New American Hotel

The Revere House was a rambling frame building, changed name and ownership in 1892, as The American Hotel.

The New American Hotel opened in 1902.  The Coulson Hotel, was constructed in 1938 to replace the New American Hotel that had major fires in 1919, 1927 [New American Hotel Fire] and 1937.  When the Hotel Coulson first opened it was the first hotel in Ontario to have air conditioning.  Room rates started at $2 a night.  The Queen and Prince Philip stayed there in 1959.
